A view of the the t-butylisopinocampheylchloroborane adduct to acetophenone. This complex leads to a transfer of a hydrogen from the isopinocampheyl unit to the carbonyl carbon, leading to elimination of a-pinene and the asymmetric reduction of the ketone.
