Ulf von Euler
Born on this day, 1905; Ob. 1983. Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, 1970 for his "discoveries concerning the humoral transmittors in the nerve terminals and the mechanism for their storage, release and inactivation". Despite being the son of Hans von Euler-Chelpin (Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 1923), grandson of Per Teodor Cleve (Professor of Chemistry in Uppsala; discoverer of thulium and holmium), and god son of Svante Arrhenius (Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1903), Ulf von Euler became a medical student and the professor of pharmacology and physiology.
