John is currently writing his thesis. He graduated from Downing College, Cambridge with a MSci in Natural Sciences in 2002 during which he conducted research investigating the limitations of and improvements to the Rapheal Synthesis of Indolocarbozoles.

His research for the past three years has been into various aspects of the synthesis of chiral thiols and the origins of diastereoselectivity in sulfur conjugate additions. He is funded by the EPSRC and Unilever.

John is a keen, if somewhat useless cricket player, regularly bottom scoring for Downing College MCR team.
