Born on this day, 1791; Ob. 1867. Chemical assistant then successor to Humphry Davy at the Royal Institution, where he discovered benzene and developed electrochemistry.

Chen Ning Yang
Born on this day, 1922. Nobel Prize in Physics, 1957 for the "penetrating investigation of the so-called parity laws which has led to important discoveries regarding the elementary particles".
